Starwood Hotels & Resorts will open The Westin Coolum Resort & Spa in Australia, in 2021. The 220-bedroom hotel, set on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, will be part of a proposed mixed-use development with retail shops, boutiques and luxury apartments, and will be positioned less than 200 metres from the sea with direct access to the beach. The Heavenly Spa by Westin will offer six treatment rooms and an array of treatments dedicated to wellbeing. Other wellness offerings include an infinity swimming pool and a WestinWorkout studio, and the brand’s nutrient-rich SuperFoodsRx menus will be available. “The Westin brand is enjoying phenomenal growth both due to its innovative wellness offerings and lifestyle,” said Sean Hunt, vice president of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Pacific. “By the time it welcomes its first guests, The Westin Coolum Resort & Spa will be the first new-build five-star hotel to open on the Sunshine Coast in 27 years, supporting tourism growth and providing significant employment opportunities to the community.”

US$20m renovation for one of the 'dirtiest hotels in America'

Once ranked as the third dirtiest hotel in the US by Forbes, the Desert Inn Resort on
Daytona Beach in Florida is set to experience a complete US$20m
(€17.4m, £13m) renovation before reopening in Q4 2016. The previously independent
resort will then be rebranded as the Westin Daytona Beach Resort & Spa.

Westin Hamburg to open in ‘shimmering’ Elbe Philharmonic complex
