WorldSprings has opened its third US geothermal spa at Zion Canyon Hot Springs, in La Verkin, Southern Utah, featuring more than 50 natural geothermal and mineral pools.

This desert oasis joins WorldSprings’ sites in Texas and Colorado as the company expands its concept – recreating globally renowned hot spring locations such as Vichy in France, The Dead Sea and The Blue Lagoon, Iceland, by engineering the water.

Zion Canyon Hot Springs is both owned and managed by WorldSprings. The project broke ground in March last year and opened to the public today (15 July 2025). The site’s maximum capacity is 800 guests at any one time.

At the 2024 Global Wellness Summit, Christopher Barrett, CEO of Worldsprings, highlighted his plans to bring water-based wellness to everyone.

WorldSprings’ co-founder, Steve Beckley, was approached by the community of La Verkin to create this outdoor wellness destination and reopen public access to the La Verkin Sulphur Springs (Pah Tempe) geothermal waters.

Beckley told Spa Business exclusively, “Zion Canyon Hot Springs is a unique wellness destination and a great new addition to the growing Southwest Utah region. The guest experience combines proven wellness practices, including mineral hot springs, cold plunge therapy, barrel saunas and more, to create a sanctuary against the stunning backdrop of Zion National Park.

“From the size and scope to the fully new water system designed to supply and return water to our property, purified to its original source, this is our most ambitious property yet,” he added. “We’ve gained many insights from WorldSpring’s ten years of operation, and we’re excited to continue bringing restorative waters across the US”

The facilities

Zion Canyon Hot Springs has 53 bodies of water – each of which features one of three types of water: mineral, freshwater and “inspired”.

There are 32 natural hot spring pools, three barrel saunas, three cold plunge pools, two freshwater pools (including a large one for families) and a whirlpool.

There are also 16 “inspired” mineral soaking pools that use WorldSprings’ mineral formulas to create bathing experiences available at iconic hot spring destinations around the world. For example, some WorldInspired pools have a mixture of silica and mineral-rich waters to mimic those of The Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Other pools offer a Dead Sea flotation experience using hypersaline waters, with magnesium, sodium and chloride.

The water

The water for the spa is sourced from the underground mineral springs that feed Southern Utah’s Virgin River. The hot springs produce seven million gallons of water a day and reach up to 107 degrees Fahrenheit (41.6 degrees Celsius).

WorldSprings’ pumps bring the water to the pools and provide a complete changeover every two hours. The water is filtered and treated to neutralise any sulfuric odours.

The company’s analysis of the water found more than 14 different minerals, including iron, sulphate, chloride, sodium and calcium. The facility’s pools are infused with further minerals, such as magnesium, potassium and sodium, and heated at temperatures between 88-104 degrees Fahrenheit (31-40 degrees Celsius).

Family-friendly with exclusive adult zones

There is a family-friendly area, with a snack bar and locally-produced food and drinks. Fourteen of the facility’s hot spring pools, the large freshwater pool and a cold plunge and barrel sauna are located in this area.

An exclusive area for adults over 21 has a cafe and full-service bar by a fire pit. This zone has 18 of the mineral hot spring pools and all 16 of the WorldInspired pools. The other two barrel saunas and two cold plunges can be found here too.

WorldSprings’ other locations

WorldSprings’s two other sites are called WorldSprings Dallas, Texas and Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains.

WorldSprings Dallas

WorldSprings Dallas, which opened last year, has 40 WorldInspired pools, cold plunges and traditional Finnish saunas.

This property’s WorldInspired pools are grouped by world region and there’s also a spa for treatments. Facial therapies and massage are on the menu, complementing LED red light therapy and compression boots.

There is also a yoga and movement at this site, called The Sanctuary, which is open to all guests using the pools.

WorldSprings at Iron Mountain Hot Springs

WorldSprings at Iron Mountain Hot Springs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, features 32 pools, including geothermal springs, adult-only pools, a cold plunge, a Dead Sea WorldInspired flotation pool, a family pool and a café.
