Actimood’s neuroscientific methodology allows us to combine science with the principles of neurocosmetics and psychodermatology to integrate emotional wellbeing with visible skin benefits
– Ana Gonzálvez, global technical director, Germaine de Capuccini
Skincare brand Germaine de Capuccini has introduced four new skincare lines as part of a new collection called Sperience.

The products and spa treatments are inspired by holistic wellness rituals from different regions around the world.

The ranges are Amazonian Discovery, Asian Journey, African Safari and Mediterranean Escape.

In order to create multi-faceted sensory experiences, the skincare products were created using a patented fragrance system called Actimood. Developed by a company called Symrise, Actimood measures the neurological, psychometric and biometric responses to different scents. The use of this technology has enabled Germaine de Capuccini to create skincare with emotionally impactful aromas.

Ana Gonzálvez, global technical director at Germaine de Capuccini said: "Actimood’s neuroscientific methodology allows us to combine science with the principles of neurocosmetics and psychodermatology to integrate emotional wellbeing with visible skin benefits. Fragrance is one of the most powerful elements of a cosmetic product. A product's scent can evoke memories, influence mood and even increase perceived effectiveness. It’s the first impression a product makes and often the one that persists in the consumer's memory.”

There are facial and body treatments created for each of the skincare ranges, as well as rituals that incorporate accessories to complete the sensory experience.

Amazon Discovery has spicy, fruity and citrus aromas.

This range’s ingredients include passion fruit oil, pataua oil, avocado oil and tagua.

Rituals for this skincare range are performed with a rain stick to produce the sound of gentle falling rain, mimicking the noises of the rainforest. The percussion instrument is known to be used in ceremonies in regions of Latin America to attract rain.

African Safari has a nutty, sweet and chocolatey fragrance.

The range features cocoa, baobab, sweet almond oil and sunflower seed oil.

The rituals are performed using a walnut shell shaker inspired by the ‘Juju shaker’ – an instrument of West African origin. A massage scarf is also used to stretch the feet and incorporate a different texture during the experience.

Mediterranean Escape has a fruity, floral and herbal scent.

Extracts of olive, pomegranate, shea butter, grape and rosemary are included in these formulae.

The rituals are performed to the sound of an Ocean Drum, which imitates the noise and movement of the sea. This is said to evoke a connection to nature and create an atmosphere that induces calm and relaxation. The instrument produces an undulating movement due to the balls it contains, achieving the sounds of calm Mediterranean waves.

Asian Journey has woody, spicy and milky scents.

There are extracts of matcha tea, rice oil, sesame oil and soybean oil in these products. The treatments also include exfoliation and massage therapies.

“Germaine de Capuccini is thrilled to be introducing the full Sperience range to the UK market,” said Robert Stout, UK country manager at Germaine de Capuccini. “We strive to create a unique experience for all spa-goers – targeting all senses – for an immersive treatment that transports and relaxes. With the launch of the Sperience retail and professional lines, we aim to continue to build our trusted relationship with spas and hotel partners throughout the country, offering the finest skincare treatments to deliver holistic wellness.”
