Chorlton Leisure Centre in Manchester has undergone a £180,000 refurbishment.
The work, paid for Manchester City Council and Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust, involved an upgrade to both squash courts, a full gym refurbishment and a new, more efficient filtration system for the pool. Improvements to internal lighting and essential roof maintenance was also completed.
More than £30,000 was invested in the upgrading the gym equipment, which includes two Octane Cross Trainers.
Councillor Mike Amesbury, Manchester City Council’s executive member for culture and leisure said: “We are currently carrying out significant improvements at leisure centres right across Manchester as part of our continued commitment to improving sports facilities for our local community.
“Manchester is making large-scale investments to not only improve the facilities but also access to them as well and are, for example, offering free swimming to people aged 16 and under and the over-60s in all our pools, as part of this wider aim.”
