New skate park opens in Newport

The Edge @ Newport, a new £200,000 skate park has become the latest addition to the city's International Sports Village (NISV) in South Wales.

The 800sq m (8,611sq ft) concrete skatepark was built following consultation with a number of young people's organisations in Newport, including Newport Youth Council, the Newport Youth Service Information Shop and Urban Circle.

Facilities already located at the NISV include a 25m, eight-lane swimming pool, two squash courts and Wales National Velodrome. An astro-turf pitch and a fitness suite is also available at the site.

The skate park, situated adjacent to the astro-turf pitch, was opened by Mayor of Newport, Noel Trigg.
