The Odéon Théâtre de l’Europe on the Left Bank in Paris reopened on 3 April following three years’ restoration work.
The theatre received 35m euro (£25m, US$44m) of state funding for the extensive interior upgrade.
The number of seats was reduced from 2,000 to 850 to increase comfort, the stage was enlarged, the roof was raised, the floor was lowered and the public areas were restored to the original crimson damask deco. Air conditioning and new stage equipment was also installed.
The theatre’s inaugural production is an adaptation of Hamlet. Details: www.theatre-odeon.fr
