Soho Gyms has acquired the Topnotch site in Whiteley’s Centre, Bayswater and is in negotiations for other sites in and outside of London.
Described as ‘funky and friendly’, Soho Gyms was formed in 1994 by Jeremy Norman, the entrepreneur behind Heaven and The Embassy nightclubs.
The group has sites in Covent Garden, Earl’s Court, Clapham Common and Camden Town, which are particularly popular with the 21 to 35 year old market.
The company will increase the range of resistance machines and free weights at the Bayswater site and also plans refurbishment in the summer to get rid of dead space in the gym.
Memberships start at £35 per month with no joining fees or contracts and the company says its will also offer a range of short-term memberships from daily to six monthly to appeal to the transient population in the area.
It expects to achieve 1,500 members by the end of the year.
