Bürgenstock Collection creates new programming to educate guests about how to best use hydrothermal facilities

Bürgenstock has launched the programming to help guests learn how to achieve maximum wellbeing benefits from hydrothermal bathing facilities / Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne
Premium Swiss hospitality and wellness brand The Bürgenstock Collection will launch new hydrothermal experiences across its spas from October 2023.

The complementary, self-led programmes have been developed to improve the wellness experience for all guests, guiding them on how to best use the hydrothermal facilities across Bürgenstock’s three spas in Switzerland.

Printed on a waterproof card which fits neatly into guests’ robes and is supported by subtle signage, each of the three journeys is designed to take between 40 and 120 minutes depending on the spa and guest preference.

The three core journeys on offer are:
Relax: to help unwind and soothe the mind with an emphasis on warm and smooth temperature contrasts.

Regenerate: designed to assist the body to naturally repair itself, reduce inflammation, revitalise the mind and use heat to detoxify and cold temperatures to relieve muscle soreness.

Activate: a ritual created to invigorate and re-energise the body and stimulate mental clarity via contrast bathing.

Bürgenstock says the experiences will be further supported by pre- and post-treatment specific journeys – as well as seasonal journeys – to be introduced throughout the year.

Upon arrival at the spa, guests will be invited to choose their journey based on their desired outcomes. Further guidance will then be available from the spa team upon request to help guests identify the most suitable journey for their desired goals.

As heat and cold tolerance varies from one person to another, guests will have the flexibility to choose their best level of comfort within the time ranges yet are advised to follow the steps to reach the desired outcome, without skipping any elements of the journey.

Reminders to relax and hydrate are included throughout each journey.

The inspiration
The journeys are the product of a collaboration between Maggie Derblay, area director of spa, wellness and recreation for The Bürgenstock Collection, and wellness specialist Paula Alonso-Maside.

Their vision was to help guests access the scientifically-recognised benefits of hydrothermal bathing, which increase when combined with other spa elements including saunas, cold plunges or ice rooms.

The three core journeys apply a consistent approach across each Bürgenstock spa, allowing guests to benefit from similar wellness experiences in whichever spa they choose; the Bürgenstock Alpine Spa and Waldhotel Spa at Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne; Spa du Royal at Royal Savoy Hotel & Spa, Lausanne; and Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & Spa.
