The Sports Council for Wales is holding four open meetings throughout Wales to attract support for its Welsh Women and Girls Sports Forum. The forum, which was launched in December 2000, aims to raise the profile of women's sport and increase female participation. The purpose of these meetings will be to report on the work that has been done, but more importantly, generate more ideas and create new direction to keep women and girls sport firmly on the agenda, said Sports Council for Wales chief executive, Huw Jones. The Council has set itself a target of halving the gap between male and female participation by 2005, and we can successfully achieve this. The first meeting is being held in Cardiff on January 23.
