Plans have been announced for a multi-million pound facelift for the Skegness seafront. John Woodward, the founder and chairman of Lincolnshire-based leisure developers Blue Anchor Leisure, has announced plans for a retail and leisure project that will transform a prime site which is currently a car park. The plans are for a period promenade development with retail units in keeping with the resorts architecture, and a Victorian park with children's rides. The development, called The Quay, will give a much-needed boost to the seafront and should act as a catalyst for further regeneration of the seaside town. It will also bring up to 100 new jobs to this economically-deprived area. Woodward has already invested millions in the Lincolnshire coastal tourism product by creating The Magical World Of Fantasy Island, a family attraction park. Three new thrill rides will open there next year after a further investment of £35m.
