Working with Leo and the team was a great process from start to finish. Their knowledge of the wellness benefits of halotherapy, the industry, and their experience in design, installation, training, and marketing support has been invaluable."

Salt Therapy Becoming a Wellness Staple for Recovery and Biohacking
SALT Chamber, the pioneer and leader in salt therapy concepts and experiences, had a successful Biohacking Conference and received rave reviews about their ‘Recovery Suite’ at CryoCon and IHRSA. Salt therapy (halotherapy) joins cryotherapy, infrared sauna, IV infusions, and other core services as an integral component of recovery and wellness centers for performance improvement and healthy longevity.
“When examining the trends, it's obvious that salt therapy is the perfect fit for individuals looking to really enhance longevity and quality of life by combining wellness modalities in smart ways,” said Leo Tonkin, CEO of SALT Chamber and Chair of the Global Wellness Institute’s Respiratory Wellness Initiative. “That is really the essence of biohacking. How we breathe and what we breathe impacts our lungs, which is why the single most important factor for a healthy life is respiratory wellness. The ‘Father of Biohacking’ Dave Asprey gets salted, and business coach and motivational speaker Tony Robbins has a salt room at his home. Our SALT FX® home halogenerator and Pop-Up SALT Booth® allow you to transform any small space into a salt room.”
Salt therapy is a natural, drug-free modality that disperses a dry, pure-grade sodium chloride aerosol into an enclosed chamber such as a room or booth. As an individual relaxes, these particles are inhaled and penetrate deep into the lungs where they may help reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract and widen airway passages. A clean respiratory system results in higher oxygen intake, increased energy, and an improved immune system.
Competitive athletes have adopted dry salt therapy to better lung function and improve overall performance, endurance, and recovery, which is why wellness centers and fitness clubs are adding it. A NexGen Fitness® franchise owned by the Gronkowski brothers offers salt therapy as part of NexGen Recovery™. An Athletic Republic franchise has included it for their scholastic athletes, while Jimmie Ward of the San Francisco 49ers is among the professional and collegiate athletes that visit Above and Beyond Yoga and Salt Therapy in Mobile, Alabama, for regular treatments.

SALT Chamber Partners with PGA National Resort & V Starr on Unique Salt Rooms
SALT Chamber, the pioneer and leader in dry salt therapy and environments, partnered with PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and V Starr to develop two unique salt room concepts for private and group use.
V Starr, Venus Williams’ award-winning interior design firm, led the renovation of 40,000-square-foot spa as part of the recent $140 million transformation of PGA National Resort. The iconic Spa at PGA National was named one of the world’s 9 best luxury spas for 2022 by New York Post.
Cecelia Tate, the former Director of Spa at PGA National, was instrumental in the development of salt rooms for private and group experiences to promote respiratory wellness:
“I’ve been rallying to incorporate salt therapy room for ten years—I’m so glad we partnered with SALT Chamber in having two very unique Himalayan salt rooms with the SALT FX® halogenerator. While the salt décor provides a great ambience, the respiratory and skin benefits come from the dry salt particles dispersed into the room,” said Tate. “Working with Leo and the team was a great process from start to finish. Their knowledge of the wellness benefits of halotherapy, the industry and their experience in design, install, training and marketing support has been invaluable.”
The salt rooms feature beautiful Himalayan salt décor and create a signature wellness experience for guests. Salt therapy is the fastest-growing service in the spa and wellness industry. According to the Salt Therapy Association, spending time in a salt therapy environment may help cleanse the respiratory system, improve lung function, boost the immune system, and enhance mental wellness.
“Our intention with the salt rooms was to take a contemporary approach and create sophisticated intimate spaces that will embrace Zen, relaxation, and balance, while complementing the innate beauty of the spa’s overall redesign,” shares Holly Nixon of V Starr.
SALT Chamber was the first to develop the multi-purpose salt therapy concept and an innovator in incorporating beautiful Himalayan salt as a décor element. The therapeutic benefits of treatment, however, comes from the SALT FX® halogenerator. This device grinds and disperses pure-grade sodium chloride into micron-sized dry salt aerosol particles that are inhaled into the respiratory system and absorbed by the skin.

Residential spas integrate dry salt therapy as “go-to” wellness modality for luxury lifestyle
SALT Chamber, the pioneer and leader in custom salt room concepts, is partnering with apartment complexes, condominiums and luxury residences to design and install next-generation salt rooms. Salt rooms have become the “go-to” wellness modality for residential spas for developing a competitive advantage while improving residents’ respiratory health.
Dry salt therapy is an ideal wellness service for a new type of spa-goer focused on individualized programming and a healthy lifestyle, helping to cleanse the respiratory system, improve lung function, boost the immune system, and enhance mental wellness. Wendy Bosalavage, President and Chief Revenue Officer of LIVunLtd, is working with SALT Chamber to design salt rooms in many of the 60 luxury residences in New York City. “Salt rooms have become the new ‘must-have’,” said Bosalavage. “Developers recognize how important it is to have the amenities that increase the value per square foot in either a rental or condominium environment.” Auberge Beach Residences in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is a luxury residence that has a spa with two salt rooms, one for men and one for women. “Our salt rooms have been hugely popular. Residents of luxury buildings want tools for healthy living at their fingertips,” says Spa Director Linda Higgs. “People want to live in a place where they don't have to leave home to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is truer than ever post-Covid.” Solaia, a 70-unit boutique, luxury, high-rise condominium project overlooking the Hudson River in North Bergen, New Jersey, spared no expense with their beautiful salt room. Residents can enjoy 10-, 15-, or 30-minute salt therapy sessions as part of their wellness circuit. “We were looking to add something unique at Solaia, and salt therapy fit in perfectly because it's so user-friendly,” said Dyllan Mont, Special Projects and Finishes Manager for Skyline Development Group. “Residents run the programs unattended. It’s a great use of square footage that creates a lifestyle experience—something people are using regularly and reaping the health benefits. Every single person that has used the salt room has said to me that they are breathing so much deeper and it's crazy how much of an effect it really does have. We are definitely looking to do salt rooms in future residential projects.”

Salt Chamber introduces salt therapy to the fitness industry at IHRSA 2022
SALT Chamber exhibited the world’s first and only SALT Booth® that combines salt, color, and sound therapy at IHRSA 2022 in the Miami Beach Convention Center on 23-24 June 2022.
Celebrating our 10-year anniversary this month, SALT Chamber is the most established and successful salt therapy (halotherapy) company in North America, the first to introduce salt therapy to the health and fitness industry, and continues to be the leader in innovative products, equipment, and salt decor concepts.
From everyday people to world-class athletes, fitness and health club members are always looking to get the most out of their performance by training to reach their maximum potential. A big part of their training may include finding ways to improve their breathing patterns, optimizing lung capacity, and shortening recovery time.
“While salt rooms and SALT Booths® have been a prominent service offered by resort and destination spas, med spas, country clubs, and yoga centers for over a decade, health and fitness clubs are now ‘getting salted’,” says SALT Chamber Founder and CEO Leo Tonkin.
“Dry salt therapy has predominantly been thought of as a natural, drug-free, touchless complementary treatment to help relieve symptoms from a variety of respiratory conditions such as allergies, asthma, COPD, bronchitis, etc., however, athletes are now turning to dry salt therapy to gain an edge over the competition and achieve their best sports performance.”
For athletes, the importance of breathing is often overlooked.
Airflow obstruction and airway inflammation are two respiratory conditions that can cause poor breathing patterns that affect performance and ultimately lead to:
• Increased dehydration • Reduced stamina and performance • Increased likelihood of cramps and injury • Increased recovery time • Elevated heart rate
Once athletes can optimize their breathing, less breath is required, which, in turn, means they have more air in reserve to achieve superior performance.
SALT Chamber was the first to develop the multi-purpose salt therapy concept and has worked with fitness facilities such as NexGen Fitness, Fahrenheit Body Spas, New Leaf Fitness and Spa, Avenue X Fitness, and Focused Fitness to transform empty or underutilized rooms into stunning and effective salt therapy rooms, while facilities such as Athletic Republic and Retro Fitness have added simple to install plug-and-play SALT Booths®, which only require a 4’ x 4’ space and a 10-minute session.
Once athletes can optimize their breathing, less breath is required, which, in turn, means they have more air in reserve to achieve superior performance. Salt therapy compliments not only fitness clubs but other wellness modalities such as yoga, massage, sauna, cryotherapy, float therapy, IV therapy, and more.
Experiencing salt therapy in a salt room or SALT Booth® is a great way to take a break and unplug in a relaxing and safe environment to enhance mental wellness. The additional benefits of breathing in the micron-sized dry salt particles, which are anti-inflammatory, enhance our respiratory system by opening our airway passages to allow more oxygen intake. Research shows that oxygen intake helps people relax and boosts energy levels.
Salt therapy is a natural way to create distinct wellness experiences in a relaxing and nurturing environment.
All of the efficacy of salt therapy comes from the SALT FX® halogenerator, a device that grinds, crushes, and disperses pure grade sodium chloride into micron-sized dry salt aerosol particles that are inhaled into the respiratory system and absorbed by the skin.
“Instituting dry salt therapy at your fitness club or wellness center for sports training can lead to better lung function and improve the overall performance, endurance, and recovery of your members, while offering an additional revenue stream that attracts new members,” adds Tonkin.
“A salt room or SALT Booth® can each produce a $6,000+ per month profit center that requires minimum labor and just pennies a day in salt costs.”
