Leicester City Council's proposed £9m swimming and sports complex in Braunstone has received a £2m Sport England pledge. The money is dependant on the council successfully completing stage two of the funding process, which requires a more detailed plan and needs analysis to determine what local people want to gain from the facility. The proposed Braunstone Centre will provide two 25m swimming pools, a six-court sports hall and a fitness suite. We are determined to deliver this project, so the Sport England pledge represents a major step forward in turning our idea into reality, said Leicester City Council leader, Cllr Ross Willmott.
