Thai operator AHMS launches Ayurah Wellness Centre concept

Thai resort operator Akaryn Hospitality Management Services (AHMS) has launched its first Ayurah Wellness Centre at the Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga resort as part of the site’s THB100m (US$3.5m, €2.6m, £2m) renovation. The operator plans to roll out this new wellness centre concept at its other Thai resorts.

The Ayurah Wellness Centre concept is results-oriented and medically-focused. The centre offers anti-ageing therapies in addition to light-based treatments and oxygen experiences which are supposed to relieve jet lag and stress. Cellulite reduction and body-firming procedures are also on offer, in addition to reflexology, grooming facilities and a children’s area.

The spa features chromotherapy rooms, hydrotherapy baths – including Vichy shower rooms – a post-treatment relaxation chamber and a beauty salon. Each wellness centre will be supported by an on-site doctor.

Wellness activities provided by the Ayurah Wellness Centre include yoga, Thai boxing, tai chi, pilates and nature walks.

AHMS’ new flagship resort, Akaryn Koh Krabeay Retreat in Cambodia will also include an Ayurah Wellness Centre when it opens next year. The centres will also be built at the company’s two other existing Thai resorts, Aleenta Hua Hin-Pranburi and Akaryn Samui Resort & Spa.

“Guests are now well versed on wellness and are looking for a more medical approach, integrating treatments into their holidays so they will leave feeling and looking great,” AHMS’ owner and managing director Anchalika Kijkanakorn told Travel Daily Media.com. “They want a spa that delivers on its promises, that provides treatments which work.”

“We are talking about treatments where guests come three to four times a year, to ‘top up’ on making sure they are looking and feeling their very best,” Kijkanakorn added. “This can include full maintenance plans where guests will be able to come once or twice a month keeping them feeling beautiful and rejuvenated.”

AHMS operates three luxury resorts in Thailand under its Aleenta and Akaryn brands and has plans to open two new properties – one in Cambodia and the other in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
