Disney considers increasing fees for peak times with surge pricing system
POSTED 08 Jun 2015 . BY Tom Anstey
Walt Disney World Florida and Disneyland California are looking into introducing a three-tiered pricing system
After breaking the US$100 (€90, £66) mark for entry fees earlier this year, Disney is considering a new surge pricing payment system for its peak times of year.

According to a survey sent out to Disney’s annual theme park pass holders, Walt Disney World Florida and Disneyland California are looking into introducing a three-tiered pricing system marking tickets at bronze, silver or gold. In the new system, gold tickets could be used any day of the year, while silver could be used every day except for peak days and holiday weeks. Bronze tickets would be available at a cheaper rate, but would only allow entry to Disney parks during off-peak times.

According to The L.A. Times, tickets will range from US$115 (€103, £75) for gold, US$105 (€94, £69) for silver and US$99 (€89, £65) for bronze. Disneyland California currently charges US$99 for an any day one day ticket, while Walt disney World charges US$105 (€94, £69).

Disney has recently enjoyed strong attendance growth at its parks and resorts across the US. In the last quarter, revenue rose 9 per cent to US$3.9bn (€3.4bn, £2.5bn). In the past five years, Disney has invested more than US$8bn (€7bn, £5.2bn) into improving its US parks, opening new attractions including Cars Land in California and doubling the size of Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom in Florida.
