Hotel de France, located on the British Isle of Jersey, has created a wellness retreat package that includes a hot yoga session that will take place in Jersey Zoo’s butterfly sanctuary.

The all-inclusive two-night Ayush Wellness Retreat Package will include a 60-minute hot yoga session in the zoo's purpose-built Butterfly Kalaidoscope space, which is kept at a constant 28-30 degrees Celsius throughout the day, to enable the butterfly species to survive.

The 342sq m immersive space is home to seven species of rare and tropical butterflies and it also houses a pupae chamber, where butterflies hatch and take their first flight before joining the main sanctuary.

Cedric Scherer, director of sales and marketing for the property, told Spa Business about the relationship between the hotel and the zoo, which was established in 1959 by English naturalist and writer Gerard Durrell and is operated by the Durrell Conservation Trust.

“This partnership came from a shared belief. Durrell Conservation Trust has spent over 65 years helping people reconnect with the natural world,” said Scherer. “That is exactly what Hotel de France is trying to do through wellness. When two organisations are working towards the same thing, partnership is the natural next step.

He described the logistics of the experience too: “During quieter periods, our sessions are scheduled at the calmest times of the day. During school holidays, when the zoo is at its busiest, we move to exclusive access before the zoo opens or after it closes. There is no disruption, no compromise.”

The retreat package is all-inclusive and designed to accommodate groups of eight to twelve guests. In addition to airport transfers and a room for both nights, the experience includes cold-water swimming and beach sauna sessions.

Guests can also enjoy the hotel’s facilities, including an infinity pool, hydrotherapy pool, spa pool, hot and cold plunge pools, sauna, and steamroom.

Treatments and personalised wellness consultations will be available at an extra cost, guided by the hotel’s in-house Ayurveda physician, Dr Prasanna Kerur.

Kerur said, “We’re incredibly proud to launch a retreat experience that feels both luxurious and completely effortless for guests. The package has been designed to remove the stress of planning, allowing groups to fully switch off, reconnect, and immerse themselves in wellness from the moment they arrive.”

Meals will include daily breakfast, a two-course Ayurvedic wellness lunch and a two-course dinner.

Jersey Skin wellness amenities will also be provided to guests.

The package costs £499 (US$634, €584) per person based on a minimum group size of eight guests. It will be offered year-round.
