Third Space has jump-started its quest to become London’s premium health club operator with the £3.5m relaunch of its Tower Bridge gym.

The 28,000sq ft (2,601sq m) club – which was formerly 37 Degrees before being taken over by Third Space owner Encore Capital in 2014 – has been given a comprehensive makeover. Specialist spa, fitness and wellness designers Sparcstudio led the redesign of the Tower Bridge site and is one of several designers working to overhaul the entire Third Space estate – which includes clubs in Soho, Marylebone and the Reebok Sports Club in Canary Wharf.

Third Space CEO Colin Waggett said the Tower Bridge location is designed to help members become the “best possible version of themselves”, delivering a 360 degree service that combines bespoke fitness, nutrition and medical advice.

“Third Space (Tower Bridge) has been an award-winning club for over 15 years, and within that time has pushed boundaries and strived for excellence,” said Waggett.

“Over the past five years we have seen the London fitness scene change dramatically, and we will continue to define the industry standard for discerning, fitness savvy fashion conscious consumers.”

Central to the relaunched club is group exercise, with a range of dedicated studios offering classes such as Tabata, Insanity, Body Pump, yoga, barre, pilates, hot yoga and Spinning.

The gym floor features cardio, free weights, plate-loaded and functional training equipment from suppliers such as Watson Gym Equipment (strength), ESP (lifting platforms), Atlantis (plate-loaded strength equipment), Star Trac, BeaverFit, Woodway, Wattbike and Concept 2 (rowers).

On the wellness side, the club contains a range of thermal experiences, a dramatic black swimming pool, a Natural Fitness Food hub and lavish changing rooms.

Third Space chair Ian Mahoney added: “Today’s members expect more and – with the plans we have at Third Space – will be getting more.

“Intelligent, holistic healthy living has become the preferred lifestyle choice and one that we are perfectly placed to help our members achieve.”
