Wellness is non-negotiable for today’s workers, with 93 per cent of employees saying their wellbeing at work is as important as their salary
The finding comes from the Gympass State of Work-Life Wellness Report, published on 18 October 2023
Among the report's key findings is that 87 per cent of employees would consider leaving a workplace that doesn't focus on employee wellbeing
The annual report also shows that the importance of wellbeing at work is increasing
Wellness is non-negotiable for today’s workers, with 93 per cent of employees saying their wellbeing at work is as important as their salary.

The finding comes from the annual Gympass State of Work-Life Wellness Report, published today (18 October), which analysed data from more than 5,000 employees globally.

Among the report's key findings is that 87 per cent of employees would consider leaving a workplace that doesn't have some kind of focus on employee wellbeing.

The annual report also shows the importance of wellbeing at work is increasing.

When looking for their next job, 96 per cent of employees said they will only consider companies that place an emphasis on employee wellbeing – up from the 73 per cent of workers who said the same in 2022.

The research also found that employees have a clear view of what they perceive as "wellbeing".

"When employees say ‘wellbeing at work,’ they are talking about holistic wellness," the report reads.

"The majority of workers say every dimension of wellbeing — from physical to intellectual — impacts their productivity.

"They know being strapped for cash is distracting, and a bad night’s sleep saps your focus.

"Workers are saying loud and clear that they must be well to work well and are favouring employers in step with that reality.

"This is great news for employers. Workers know that they do best when they’re doing well and are actively seeking environments that allow them to do their best work. The onus is now on employers to deliver an employee experience optimised for workforce wellness."

When it comes to physical wellness, the report paints a positive picture of the health of the workforce, with 3 in four respondents (74 per cent) saying they feel fit and 81 per cent reporting that they have a good diet. Three in four (73 per cent) rate their sleep as healthy.

Employees agree that their fitness (99 per cent), sleep (98 per cent), and nutrition (99 per cent) matter to their overall wellbeing.
