Anantara executes strategic expansion into Mauritius
POSTED 28 Nov 2019 . BY Megan Whitby
The destination includes a 368sq m spa.

This new resort represents an important strategic expansion in Anantara’s footprint, which will build on the strength the brand already has in the Indian Ocean.
– Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels
Anantara has recently launched its first Mauritian destination – Iko Mauritius Resort and Villas – on Le Chaland beach, Mauritius.

Owned by Currimjee Jeewanjee & Co, the 164-bedroom property resort was created by Australia-based Ground Kent Architects and Abacus Design interior designers of Thailand.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels – parent company of Anantara – said: “This new resort represents an important strategic expansion in Anantara’s footprint, which will build on the strength the brand already has in the Indian Ocean”.

The destination includes a 368sq m spa with two double and three single treatment rooms, two relaxation areas, a Turkish hammam, spa pool, two experience showers and two outdoor Thai massage pavilions.

The spa only uses chemical-free products and has chosen Comfort Zone, THÉMAÉ Paris and Nougatine to supply its treatments.

Anantara is also offering a collection of activities, including yoga and meditation and Creole cookery classes. A range of water sports, diving, private cruises is also on offer.

Wellness journeys are led by experts in reiki therapy, chakra healing and Ayurvedic healing.

The destination is adopting sustainable practices, such as using solar technology to heat water, planting endemic flora within the hotel landscapes, using greywater for irrigation, and incorporating recycled materials into the resort’s decor.

Guests can also visit a range of five different dining experiences – Sea.Fire.Salt., Zafran, Bon Manzer, Horizon and Dining By Design.

Anantara has announced plans for eight luxury pool villas – two with two bedrooms and six with four bedrooms – which are slated to launch in Q2 next year.
