Improved Cannonier resort reopens on Mauritius

Beachcomber Resorts & Hotels has reopened its Canonnier Beachcomber Golf Resort and Spa following a complete redevelopment.

The luxury resort, one of eight operated by Beachcomber on the island, has been overhauled by French interior designers Paule de Romeuf and Amélie Montocchio.

Each guestroom has been redesigned as part of the transformation and the resort’s wellness centre, Spa Beachcomber, has been redesigned in the shape of a treehouse village.

Built among the branches of a 100-year-old banyan tree, the spa now also features a low stone wall in honour of a lighthouse that once stood in the resort’s tropical gardens.

Featuring six treatment cabins, including double suites for couples, the spa offers a choice of massages, facials, pedicures and manicures.

The cabins are built from timber strips, stone and thatch to blend seamlessly into the surroundings, and all are equipped with outdoor showers.

New facilities include a sauna, hammam and a fitness club, while the swimming pool has also been refurbished.

“The spa’s simple, yet charming, styling and decor reflect the hotel's casual elegance,” a spokesperson for Beachcomber said.

“Guests are invited to climb up stone pathways swathed in vines to reach the rustic cabins built at different levels.”
