Borgobrufa Resort has seen a major extension and redesign of its existing spaces
Architect Silvia Giannini has expanded the spa from 1,400sqm to 3,000sq m
New spa is now the largest in Umbria
Located in Italy’s verdant region of Umbria, the spa at Borgobrufa Resort has begun a new chapter following a major extension and redesign of its existing spaces.
Executed by architect Silvia Giannini, the project has expanded the spa from 1,400sqm to 3,000sq m which, according to the resort team, makes it the largest spa in Umbria.
The spa is complete with nine single treatment rooms equipped by Lemi and four private spa suites – one of which includes a round hydromassage tub and sensory shower.
With views over the valleys of Assisi and Perugia, the all-season spa is inspired by the rolling green hills surrounding it and has been redesigned with a focus on returning to nature.
In a nod to this, the spa is now decorated with natural materials and features tall glass windows to let in as much natural light as possible. The new interior colour palette was drawn from tones typically found in forests, the earth and vegetation – these also inspired the introduction of new motifs throughout the spa to further bring the outdoors in.
In addition, the update expanded the spa with a brand new relaxation area overlooking the outdoor swimming pool with views of the surrounding valleys.
The relaxation space features different types of beds – including those for single guests, couples and a series of hanging beds to let visitors gently rock themselves into a state of calm. The area is enhanced with different combinations of sounds and lights to offer the ultimate relaxation experience.
Giannini said: “We wanted quality in every detail and gave impeccable attention to the customers’ needs. The new spa also has new high-level treatments incorporating regional products such as oil, wine and chocolate.”
New experiences also include a glass-fronted panoramic sauna with views across the valley, plus a snow room. Italy-based spa and wellness supplier the Hofer Group helped supply and install all the new wet and thermal offerings.
Additional existing spa facilities include an indoor pool, vitarium, rasul and salt bath.
