Dr Brabetz is a specialist physician (Swiss Medical Association) for internal medicine and holder of Swiss Federal VET Diploma in Psychosomatic and Psychosocial Medicine and in Phytotherapy
Dr Michael Brabetz has been appointed medical director of the Waldhotel, the upcoming health and medical wellness at Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne. Bürgenstock launches in Summer 2017 in Switzerland following a 550 million Swiss franc investment.

Designed by Italian architect Matteo Thun, the five-star Waldhotel is a medical centre that will feature a team of multidisciplinary physicians to treat and prevent health concerns.

Located on the edge of a mountain cliff in the Swiss Alps, Bürgenstock will also include four luxury hotels and a striking 10,000sq m glass-fronted spa.

Dr Brabetz is a specialist physician (Swiss Medical Association) for internal medicine and holder of Swiss Federal VET Diploma in Psychosomatic and Psychosocial Medicine and in Phytotherapy. Having studied at the University of Bern and working at a range of hospitals including Langenthal, Inselspital University Hospital and Stadtspital Wald in Zurich, Dr Brabetz ran his own practice on Lake Zurich for ten years. Before joining the Bürgenstock Resort, he established and ran the department of internal medicine as Head Physician at the Clienia private psychiatric clinic in Littenheid.

The Waldhotel is located in an area of natural beauty, enjoying fresh alpine air. All 160 terrace rooms and suites will boast views of the Alps. Besides beauty and relaxation treatments, post-operative recovery, physiotherapy, treatments for burnout patients, medical check-ups, disease prevention and nutritional consultation and weight regulation will also be included in tailored programmes. In addition to 23 medical rooms – which includes 18 rehabilitation rooms and five rooms for accompanying guests – the 4,200sq m Waldhotel will incorporate a medical spa, 160sq m conference room, boardroom and educational kitchen.

Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne is located on the Bürgenberg mountain ridge offering panoramic views of the Swiss Alps 500m above Lake Lucerne. The resort will also incorporate an array of amenities, to include 70km of hiking and biking trails, three Davis Cup standard tennis courts, a nine-hole golf course, curling, ice-skating rinks and horse stables. It is set within 60 hectares of Alpine forest and will be entirely carbon neutral.
