Chiva-Som’s sister brand Jayasom reveals wellness concept for flagship Amaala resort
POSTED 12 Dec 2025 . BY Helen Andrews

Jayasom, Amaala, will open in 2026 with 153 guest units and 24 residences
It will have separate adults-only and family areas and programming
The 7,000sq m wellness facilities will blend Western evidence-based treatments and Arabic remedies
There will be retreats for couples reconnection, intergenerational wellbeing, leadership and detoxification

Integrative wellness operator Jayasom has outlined details of the wellness offering at its first property within the giga-project Amaala, on the coast of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea, ahead of opening in 2026.

It will join a portfolio of nine luxury resorts opening at Triple Bay as part of the Amaala project by developer Red Sea Global.

The word Jayasom is derived from the Thai words “jay” meaning heart and “asom,” which means place. The two together are interpreted as “a place for the heart” and properties operated by this brand will provide a sanctuary for guests to feel deeply connected to themselves and their surroundings.

The guiding philosophy behind Jayasom is “tread lightly, live well” and all destinations in the upcoming collection will be dedicated to supporting future generations.

Jayasom, Amaala

Jayasom, Amaala, will have 153 units of guest accommodation and 24 branded residences. The resort has been created as an adults-focused wellness retreat destination but it is also a family resort.

There are two distinct zones – an adults-only area and a specific zone for families (including areas for infants, toddlers and teens).

The resort has wellness facilities measuring 7,000sq m dedicated to health, physiotherapy, fitness, mindfulness, energy work, nutrition, spa treatments and minimally invasive aesthetic medicine.

The resort will offer multidisciplinary, tailored wellness journeys that draw upon Western evidence-based practices as well as holistic traditional Arabic remedies.

The key pillars for the wellness concept are:

  • Detox and nutrition
  • Mindfulness and emotional wellbeing
  • Women’s health and hormone balance
  • Fitness and movement
  • Immune resilience
  • Integrative sleep recovery
  • Men’s longevity and vitality
  • Stress recovery and mental clarity

Programmes will be led by medically certified specialists, holistic practitioners, therapists and movement experts.

Specific retreats on offer will include those for intergenerational wellbeing, women-only activations, equine therapy, couples reconnection, leadership, physical performance, detox and sound therapy.

Specialised programmes rooted in Traditional Arab and Islamic Medicine (TAIB) will also be on offer. These will integrate healing traditions focused on balance, prevention and harmony across body, mind and spirit. These therapies will provide complementary holistic experiences.

In alignment with the resort’s commitment to a light environmental footprint and community contribution, the resort will have an organic farm. The farm will serve as a learning hub for adults and children, as well as supplying the produce served during meals.

Karen Campbell, CEO of Jayasom, said: “Jayasom was born from a belief that wellness is a practice grounded in presence, learning and the quiet courage to be still.

“At Amaala, we will provide the space and support to restore balance, breathe deeply, and reconnect with wisdom – ancient and modern, personal and shared,” added Campbell. “Our commitment is to deliver wellness with integrity and compassion, empowering guests to carry forward habits that enrich their lives long after they return home.”

Jayasom the brand

In 2023, Campbell spoke to Spa Business in her role as business development director of Chiva-Som International Health Resorts about the differences between destination wellness operator Chiva-Som and sister brand Jayasom.

She said at the time: “Although Jayasom and Chiva Som's values are the same – with a sharp focus on health and sustainable wellness – they’re distinct from one another.

“In contrast to Chiva-Som, which encourages guests to embrace a digital detox, Jayasom will target the younger generation and focus on tech integration,” added Campbell.
