Corinthia London, the five-star hotel in the centre of the UK’s capital city, has re-launched its urban spa with a new concept called Biome.

The concept stems from the idea of working with, and not against the body for holistic wellbeing.

Biome is part of the 279-key hotel’s integration of a new philosophy called Primal Luxury, which is an approach designed to provide a guest experience that combines instinct and intelligence, the healing rhythms of nature and modern science.

Described as an evolution of the spa’s offering, Biome has been created to provide guests with an ecosystem of expert care. This ecosystem manifests as a partnership with an initial three foundational companies that will offer experiences combining expertise in nature, science and innate human potential. Over time, more partners will join Biome.

Botanical skincare brand Wildsmith will provide treatments using its sensorial formulations and rhythmic massage techniques designed to ground the nervous system. The facials and body therapies are designed to help guests regulate and restore balance.

Regenerative skincare brand Augustinus Bader will provide personalised scientific protocols to support the body’s natural processes of renewal and repair. Treatments will involve the brand’s innovations relating to stem cell biology and wound healing. Therapies will use the brand’s TFC8-technology skincare range that is said to improve skin cellular communication and enhance the natural renewal process.

AMP Fit has become Biome’s performance and movement partner, providing personalised fitness plans that cover movement, strength, conditioning, nutrition, recovery and accountability. The brand’s signature small group personal training sessions will be on offer at the property.

Kerry Turpin, head of spa and wellness, Corinthia Hotels, told Spa Business: “It’s an incredibly exciting year for Corinthia as we continue to expand our portfolio and embed Corinthia Wellbeing across our destinations. Our approach has always been to move away from a one-size-fits-all model, allowing each spa to develop its own authentic identity rooted in place, culture and guest needs. The launch of Biome by Corinthia London is a powerful expression of this: a bold, primal approach to luxury wellness, defined by the experience and supported by a hand-picked line-up of partners who truly embody the new spa vision.”

Aysun Mut, Corinthia London’s director of spa, said: “Over time, new partners, practitioners and wellbeing pillars will join us, each adding depth and dimension to the experience. Our vision is to create a deeply immersive, nature-rooted and scientifically backed experience that aims to help individuals feel both grounded and renewed. Biome is about stripping away the complexities of modern life to reconnect with nature and one's own body.”

The future partners will offer expanded programming in areas such as movement, recovery, longevity, nutrition and holistic lifestyle support.

Biome is now open to hotel guests, members and spa day visitors. Membership packages offer various options, such as £2,500 for three months (US$3,200, €2,900), £4,000 for six months (US$5,100, €4,700) and £7,500 (US$9,500, €8,800) for 12 months.

Until now, the 3,300sq m spa had been an ESPA-Life offering, since it first launched in 2011. The thermal facilities, also designed by ESPA, continue to be a part of the spa experience at Corinthia London. The spa has a swimming pool, vitality pool, amphitheatre sauna, steamroom, experience showers and heated marble loungers.
