Equinox Hotels is collaborating with Dr Matthew Walker to enhance its offering through cutting-edge sleep science
Key initiatives will include a Sleep Lab project in New York, advanced guestroom sleep technologies and a digital Jet Lag Reset tool for optimised recovery
The sleep project builds on Equinox Hotels' existing sleep-centred offerings including sleep-driven spa treatments, AM + PM Rituals designed to optimise guests' circadian rhythm, scientist-vetted guestrooms and more
Equinox Hotels will host its second annual Global Sleep Symposium event on 1 May, 2025, featuring insights from Walker and access to the innovative Sleep Lab
Equinox Hotels, the health-driven luxury hospitality brand, has announced a partnership with Dr Matthew Walker, the renowned sleep scientist, New York Times best-selling author and professor of neuroscience and psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.

The collaboration aims to redefine the guest experience through innovative sleep science designed to enhance health, performance and overall wellbeing.

The partnership will introduce the following initiatives:

Equinox Hotels Sleep Lab: An immersive, living experiment within Equinox Hotel New York where guests will engage with sleep technologies and participate in studies led by Walker. Guests will explore environments designed to push the boundaries of sleep innovation and technology that will inform future property designs and improve sleep quality in real-time.

Enhanced guestroom design: Future Equinox Hotels and Resorts guestrooms will feature cutting-edge sleep technologies, developed in consultation with Walker, to continue to improve and develop sleep-optimised environments.

Equinox Hotels Jet Lag Reset: A proprietary digital offering providing personalised strategies to mitigate jet lag and optimise recovery supporting guests' arrival and departure from its hotels and resorts. The Reset will be available on the Equinox Hotels website to also support its digital audiences' travel.

The initiative builds on the operator's existing sleep-centred offerings. These include sleep-driven spa treatments, AM + PM Rituals designed to optimise guests' circadian rhythm, scientist-vetted guestrooms, The Art + Science of Sleep programme and recovery-focused RoomBar amenities.

“At Equinox Hotels, we understand that sleep isn’t just a luxury – it’s essential to living a high-performance life,” said Chris Norton, company CEO. “This partnership with Matthew Walker extends our leadership in the industry, reinforcing our commitment to delivering the highest-quality regeneration experiences to our guests and helping them perform at their best.”

Walker added: "Sleep is the foundation for everything we do – as expressed in one of the four pillars of Equinox Hotels. I’m thrilled to partner with the team to develop innovative sleep solutions that will revolutionise the guest experience in hospitality and empower travellers to achieve their full potential."

As part of the partnership, Walker will also curate educational sleep science content to engage and inform Equinox Hotels’ guests and digital audiences.

Global Sleep Symposium 2025
On 1 May 2025, Equinox Hotels will host its second annual Global Sleep Symposium. The event will bring together guests, industry leaders and sleep science specialists – including Dr Walker – for a day of immersive programming and cutting-edge insights.
