Great turnout for Global Wellness Day in Istanbul

Thousands of wellness-seekers have descended on Istanbul's Macka Park to celebrate Global Wellness Day events today at what's being dubbed Global Wellness Day HQ, to reflect the fact that the event was founded in the city by Belgin Aksoy three years ago.

The event is also being celebrated in 70 countries around the world.

The day kicked off with a mass Yoga and Zumba session, while visitors sampled fresh squeezed juices, organic salads and enjoyed complimentary bodywork tasters.

The breezy, sunny day has a festive feel, with families and friends lounging on bright pink Global Wellness Day bean bags and enjoying educational talks from a range of experts, including Dr Danny Friedland, who addressed the crowd in English and Turkish.

The day is continuing with nutritional talks and activities from sponsors such as Technogym and Migros.

Global Wellness Day will end tonight with a party and live band playing out the day at 7.00pm.
