New Zealand's historic Spa Hotel in Taupo, built in 1869, is on the market - including heritage buildings and natural hot water stream beds nestled in 7.5 hectares of land.
Offers for the hotel, which has a valuation of NZ$5.34m (US$4.43m, 3.44m euro, £2.92m), close on 27 March.
The hotel is one of New Zealand's oldest and features include a church chapel dating back to the 1860s and several cottages dating from the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Infrastructure at the property includes a licensed bar and restaurant for up to 480 people, 15 chalet units, 10 studio units, staff accommodation, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and a thermal bore with two heat exchange units to provide heating for accommodation units.
The property is located near the
Hilton Lake Taupo, which saw the transformation of the 120-year-old Terraces Hotel three years ago.
Paul Dixon of real estate agent Bayleys Auckland said the hotel had become rundown but a substantial parcel of land accompanying the buildings offered a "blank canvas" for an upmarket development.
"It was established as an accommodation venue where guests would come to bath in the pure and natural spa waters, and now some 144 years later it will most likely revert to a spa lodge again."
