Historic thermal spa town welcomes The Harrogate Spa
POSTED 19 Nov 2019 . BY Megan Whitby
The Majestic Hotel has undergone a £15million overhaul.

We have worked carefully to incorporate the rich heritage of our spa town location, combining this with the latest in beauty and wellbeing and world-class service from our spa team.
– Lynn Roach, spa director at The Harrogate Spa
The Majestic Hotel in the historic thermal spa town Harrogate, UK, has a new £15m (US$19m, €18m) spa following an overhaul of the entire property.

The hotel, which operates as a DoubleTree by Hilton, was built in 1900 and is one of the grand dames of the town, which is claimed to have 100 different mineral water springs.

Harrogate has strong associations with spa and restorative treatments dating back to the 19th century, as traditionally, doctors prescribed drinking or bathing in the mineral waters of Harrogate to treat a variety of ailments.

The newly refurbished Harrogate Spa includes four single and two couple’s treatment rooms and has selected ESPA, Thalgo and Carita as product houses.

Additional facilities include a spa pool, Himalayan salt sauna, steamroom, experience shower, ice fountain and Rasul – a space where guests conduct a Middle Eastern ritual of smoothing mud over their hair, face and body whilst in a steamroom.

Treatments on offer include massages, facials, wraps and scrubs.

Lynn Roach, spa director at Harrogate Spa said: “We have worked carefully to incorporate the rich heritage of our spa town location, combining this with the latest in beauty and wellbeing and world-class service from our spa team”.

Guests can also visit a relaxation lounge area pre- and post-treatment which links to the outdoors, leading visitors to a Zen and courtyard spa garden.

Additional facilities include a spa café, outdoor terrace, Technogym-equipped gym and fitness studio.

The Harrogate Spa has had a soft opening with a grand opening scheduled for January 2020.
