IHRSA moves 2021 convention and trade show to Dallas in October

The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) has moved its Annual International Convention & Trade Show from Los Angeles to Dallas, Texas.

Taking place 13-15 October 2021, the event is now in its 40th year and the move is to ensure that the show goes ahead.

California is still struggling to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and on 29 March, an Executive Order was issued to direct the public to stay at home "until further notice".

Brent Darden, IHRSA interim president and CEO, said: "Because of the current COVID-19 restrictions in Los Angeles County, hosting IHRSA 2021 in Los Angeles this September as previously planned is too uncertain.

“The IHRSA Board of Directors, Industry Partner Advisory Council, and IHRSA staff unanimously agreed that moving the Convention to Dallas was the best path forward for our industry and attendees.”

IHRSA 2021 is expected to be the first in-person gathering of its kind for the industry since the pandemic.

The event will include keynote speeches, educational sessions and a show floor featuring innovations, products, and services for the fitness industry.

Alan Leach, CEO of the West Wood Clubs in Dublin, Ireland, and chair-elect of the IHRSA board of directors, said: "Not only is Dallas an exciting new venue, but the October dates allow a few more crucial weeks for those who may need the extra time to get the vaccine or appropriate approvals in order to travel."
