As staff shortages are frequently reported in the spa industry, it’s important spa owners provide an environment that maximises staff retention
– Julie Garrow, MD, Intelligent Spas
The survey will explore how spa businesses are implementing workplace wellness initiatives
Spa owners, managers and directors must complete a survey per spa location
The survey takes less than 10 minutes and must be completed by 4th November
The results will yield insights into best practices and how to improve initiatives around the world
Intelligent Spas is inviting spa managers from around the world to take part in an industry survey about how workplace wellness initiatives are implemented in their companies.

The questionnaire will reveal how leadership, culture and structured programmes are being combined to enhance wellbeing internally across the spa market.

The results will also provide insights into best practices, common challenges and opportunities to improve existing programmes.

Julie Garrow, MD, Intelligent Spas, told Spa Business, “Spas are known for helping clients relax, escape and enjoy nice experiences, while encouraging them to take time out to look after themselves.

“As workplace wellness becomes an increasingly important topic across many industries, I thought it would be timely to understand if spa owners, managers and staff are also looking after themselves,” added Garrow. “As staff shortages are frequently reported in the spa industry, it’s important spa owners provide an environment that maximises staff retention.

“This survey aims to help businesses understand and implement relevant workplace wellness initiatives,” concluded Garrow.

Intelligent Spas outlines examples of workplace wellness initiatives it would like to learn more about:

• Mental and emotional wellbeing – stress management workshops, mental health days or flexible leave policies

• Physical health support – ergonomic workspaces and equipment, health screenings

• Work-life balance – flexible work hours, encouragement of time off/ taking eligible leave

• Social and team connection – social events, peer support programs or mentorship

• Organisational commitment – clear wellness strategy and goals, and budget allocation for wellness programmes

• Education and training – wellness-related training for managers and staff, and funded courses for professional development

The survey is only open to spa owners, managers and directors – with one survey to be conducted per spa location. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete and must be completed before 4th November.
