Root has more than 40 years of professional experience in wellbeing programming development and management at properties around the globe
Industry veteran Jim Root will oversee all new spa and wellbeing development projects for US hospitality group Enchantment. Root is currently general manager of the group’s destination spa Mii amo, located in Sedona, Arizona, and will take on the title of director of wellbeing for the group.

Enchantment Group develops and manages hotels, resorts, destination spas and golf courses. In addition to Mii amo, the Enchantment Group’s portfolio includes Enchantment Resort and Seven Canyons Golf Club in Sedona; the Tides Inn in Irvington, Virginia; and The Cove, Eleuthera in the Bahamas.

Root has more than 40 years of professional experience in wellbeing programming development and management at properties around the globe, and brings extensive luxury resort and destination spa expertise. As general manager of Mii amo, Root oversees spa programming, property operations and aids in creating personalised Journey experiences for guests.

In addition to his current responsibilities at Mii amo, Root will spearhead the initiative to establish each of the group’s properties as a destination for wellbeing, create fulfilling guest experiences that exceed current resort standards, lead development of new projects, and provide strategic direction and oversight of wellbeing programming in the Scottsdale-based corporate office and Enchantment Group properties.

“As General Manager of Mii amo, Jim has strengthened the property’s position as the premier destination spa,” said Greg Miller, executive vice president of operations, sales and marketing. “In this new capacity, we are confident he will build upon this success and bring the same passion to establishing Enchantment Group as a leader in wellbeing across our portfolio.”

Born in Upstate New York and raised in Princeton, New Jersey, Root completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University School of Hotel Administration in 1977. He has held health and wellness-oriented titles at several notable destination spas and resorts, playing a pivotal role in each position.

Root’s work has ranged from project management, operations and managerial duties, to serving as chairman of ISPA in 2008. His extensive portfolio of experience includes time spent as CEO and president of the Glen Ivy Hot Springs, and positions held at Meadowood Napa Valley, Miraval Arizona, Sea Island Resorts, Copper Mountain Resort Association, Montana San Miguel Retreat Spa, Rancho La Puerta and Green Valley Spa & Resort.

“I am excited about this additional role with Enchantment Group and all of the possibilities before us,” said Root. “I look forward to sharing and expanding on the experiences and connections that are nurtured at Mii amo for our guests, teammates and community across the Enchantment Group portfolio and beyond.”
