Emirates Hotels & Resorts, the hospitality division of Emirates Airlines, will launch its US$69m (53.34m euro, £49.4m) Wolgan Valley Resort and Spa in Australia’s Blue Mountains in 2009.
The property is situated on more than 4,000 acres (1,618 hectares) of distressed farmland, 2 per cent of which will be used for a resort of 40 suites and a main ‘homestead’, featuring a Timeless Spa.
Boasting six treatment rooms with Japanese-style soaking tubs, the spa will use Sodashi products and offer views over the Gardens of Stone National Park.
The remaining land around the resort will be progressively restored to its natural state with the gradual reintroduction of native fauna and flora.
Emirates Hotels & Resorts will open a second conservation-focused resort property in late 2010.
The US$253m (195.6m euro, £181m) Cap Ternay Resort and Spa will be situated in a protected area on the island of Mahé in the Seychelles.
It will have 110 acres (45 hectares) of protected nature reserve, with 1,312ft (400m) of private beach nearby.
