Mayo Clinic extends Healthy Living Programme to include spa services

US healthcare provider, the Mayo Clinic, has expanded its Healthy Living Programme – which launched earlier this year – to include a weight management plan and spa services.

The Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Programme is a whole-body wellness experience guided by medical research and evidence-based medicine offering solutions to improve guests' quality of life. The programme is research-driven around diet, exercise, and resiliency, while wellness coaches focus on what is needed for individuals to make sustainable changes to their lifestyles. The Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Programme is located in Rochester, Minnesota,

Meanwhile, the Healthy Weight Plan and Rejuvenate will be on offer from Q4 of this year. The weight loss plan is a two-day on-site programme which involves consultations prior to visitors’ arrival and ongoing support after they leave. Wellness specialists involved in the programme will stay engaged for a full year to help people meet healthy weight goals, according to Dr Donald Hensrud MD – the programme’s medical director.

“An important aspect of this programme is that Mayo Clinic staff understand how challenging weight management can be and that they offer a strong supportive environment while people meet these challenges,” Hensrud said in a statement. “Everyone has different obstacles to weight management and we encourage guests to design their own individualised weight-loss programme to address these obstacles.”

Mayo Clinic will now use its massage, acupuncture, meditation training and skincare services to provide spa services at Rejuvenate – beyond their use as key components of patient care in a hospital or clinic setting. The therapies are offered as part of the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Programme – including an array of massages, skincare – facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, injectables – and nail health, such as manicures and pedicure.

“We have created a true lifestyle-changing programme that blends together evidence-based health and spa therapies to support people’s wellness journey,” said Brent Bauer MD, medical director of Rejuvenate. “Rejuvenate emphasises the ways that traditional spa services can enhance a person’s overall wellbeing through the renewal of mind, body and spirit.”
