Canyon Ranch is to launch its first wellness community dedicated to healthy living in Miami Beach, Florida, US this summer.
Built on a six-acre, ocean-front site, Canyon Ranch Living Miami Beach will feature condominiums and hotel suites, plus a 70,000sq ft (6,500sq m) spa and wellness facility.
The Canyon Ranch Wellness Center will offer a range of medical and wellness services, including private consultations and workshops in disease prevention and weight loss, along with cookery classes and nutrition advice.
The spa offers a full thermal suite and 23 treatment rooms. Facilities include a Finnish sauna, ice igloo, reflexology basins, two infinity swimming pools and a rooftop pool.
The development is owned by WSG Development Company and designed by Arquitectonica. The interior design is being completed by Rockwell Group.
A second Canyon Ranch Living site is currently under construction in Chicago and due to open in 2010 while several more are also in the planning stages.
Husband-and-wife team Mel and Enid Zuckerman opened the first Canyon Ranch Health Resort in Tucson, Arizona, US, in 1979.
