New details revealed for Epcot's 'Frozen Ever After' ride coming in 2016

New details have been revealed about Disney’s upcoming Frozen attraction, which is coming to Epcot in Florida next year.

The new ride, which will replace Epcot’s 27-year-old Maelstrom attraction, has been titled ‘Frozen Ever After’. Disney's Imagineers say the attraction will take you back to the smash-hit movie without retelling the Frozen story. While the ride won’t include entirely new songs, existing melodies featured in the animated film will feature new lyrics as written by movie composers Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson Lopez.

The attraction will keep much of the infrastructure that the four minute Maelstrom log ride included, but theming will be changed from a viking world to Frozen’s Winter Festival. The ride will feature all of the major characters in the film, as well as the popular song “Let it Go”.

According to Disney Imagineering creative executive Kathy Mangum, the audio-animatronic characters included in the redeveloped ride will use the same cutting-edge facial technology used on the Vekoma-designed Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride at Magic Kingdom.

Disney sees Frozen Ever After as a huge shot in the arm for Epcot, which has comparatively low visitor numbers (11.4m) compared to Disney World’s Magic Kingdom (19.3m).
