Work on the AU$120m (US$100.8m, £61.3m, 70.4m euro) Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa in Australia’s New South Wales region, is nearing completion ahead of its launch in October 2009.
Wolgan Valley is the second conservation-focused property within the Emirates Hotels and Resorts group, Emirates Airlines’s hospitality division. It has a similar ecological blueprint to Emirates’ existing Al Maha Desert Resort, located an hour away from Dubai City, UAE, which opened in 1999.
The spa at Wolgan Valley will feature Emirates’ signature Timeless Spa products, which have been developed in conjunction with German product manufacturer Babor. The spa will offer six double treatment rooms, each including a Japanese-style soaking tub. Other facilities include a large swimming pool.
The resort incorporates as many ecologically sustainable design principles as possible, including a heat exchange technology to reduce electricity consumption. Wherever possible, natural and recycled materials such as sandstone and timber were sourced from within a 100km (62.1 mile) radius of the property to further reduce the carbon footprint.
The next Emirates Hotels & Resorts development to feature a Timeless Spa will be the AU$300.8m (US$253m, £154.1m, 176.6m euro) Cap Ternay Resort & Spa in the Seychelles, which is scheduled to open in late 2010.
