Pulse kicks off £4m Bolsover partnership with sports centre redevelopment
POSTED 11 Feb 2016 . BY Jak Phillips
The project sees Pulse design and build a brand new extension to the council-operated centre
Leisure solutions provider Pulse will lead a major redevelopment of Clowne Sports Centre as it begins a new £4m contract with Bolsover District Council.

The project sees Pulse design and build a brand new extension to the council-operated centre, consisting of a 25m (82ft) swimming pool, a children’s pool and flume ride, plus a children’s play kingdom and brand new changing rooms.

As well as the extension, Pulse will expand the existing gym to 100 stations – bringing in new Pulse equipment and a bespoke functional rig. The site will receive two new dance studios and an indoor cycling studio kitted out with 20 Keiser bikes.

The contract with Bolsover District Council comes after Pulse last year won a 20-year contract to become Suffolk Coastal District Council’s (SCDC) Strategic Leisure Development Partner. The original contract with SCDC incorporated the potential redevelopment, equip and operational support of a number of other facilities within four additional local authorities’ portfolios listed on the tender, including Bolsover District Council. It is understood that the tender was carried out in such a way to save the local authorities from potential further expenditure in the procurement process.

“We are delighted to be working with Bolsover District Council as their strategic leisure development partner, this is a real testament to our previous work,” said Pulse managing director Chris Johnson.

“We are confident that by working in partnership, we will greatly improve the existing offering and ensure that the centre offers a fantastic range of facilities for the whole community to enjoy.”
