The Spa Association (SPAA) has launched a membership scheme for American spas in a bid to help consumers identify safe spas.
Spa Secure, the brainchild of Melinda Milton, the founder of SPAA, has been created to eliminate the confusion that exists between the numerous health and safety regulations current imposed on spas by US states and create a spa standard system recognisable by consumers.
For a fee, Spa Secure will evaluate spa facilities according to a set of universal standards created by adopting the strictest standards from each state and then “elevating each standard to the next level”.
Spas that pass the voluntary inspection are then allowed to use the Spa Secure logo in all their marketing for the next two years. This, SPAA hopes, will offer consumers a tool to recognize a spa’s commitment to excellence in customer service as well as health and safety issues. Details: www.spasecure.com
