Starwood has revealed plans to open the first Westin property to be located in Doha, Qatar.

Opening in 2015, the planned 372-bedroom Westin Doha & Spa is part of a continued expansion by Westin in the region, with two properties already in the UAE and a further four hotels in the pipeline for the region.

The hotel will sit on an area of 49,000sq m (527,000sq ft) and will be in the heart of Doha’s Central Business District.

Facilities will include a spa, three swimming pools, 10 meeting rooms and a choice of five restaurants and bars.

Bart Carhan, senior vice president of acquisitions and development for Europe, Africa and Middle East division said: “The signing of The Westin Doha & Spa marks the introduction of the Westin brand to Doha and highlights our commitment to expanding our portfolio in the Middle East.”

Starwood’s expansion plans in the Middle East also include openings in Sharjah, UAE and Erbil, Iraq.
