Upper Houses Chengdu and Shanghai will host events that meet the needs of their local clientele

Swire Hotels’ luxury hospitality brand Upper House has revealed it will roll out its two-day House of Healing retreats at its three hotels in Hong Kong, Chengdu and Shanghai.

The House of Healing retreats offer hotel guests and visitors from the wider community the opportunity to take part in a number of wellness experiences as part of a shared journey in a dedicated space, to foster social wellbeing. Each hotel’s offering will be different, catering to the needs of the local market.

Kristina Snaith-Lense, head of wellness for Swire Hotels and pre-opening GM for the upcoming Upper House Shenzhen, told Spa Business: “House of Healing is far more than a wellness retreat – it’s an invitation to pause, gather, reset and reconnect with oneself, away from the noise and pace of everyday life. It brings together like-minded individuals who made a conscious decision to carve out the gift of time and space for themselves.

“I personally love that the experiences are more compact, “taster” sessions, yet still varied to be more accessible and inclusive to the individual,” added Snaith-Lense. “There’s also the element of choice, so that each guest can personalise their own schedule based on what they hope to achieve. This concept embodies the same spirit as our ‘Houses not Hotels’ philosophy: creating moments and spaces that guests truly feel at home.

“House of Healing welcomes our guests to a safe, curated space where they can explore balance, longevity and connection through a series of wellness experiences,” she continued.

“These events have quickly become known for the strong community they build naturally - people connect authentically through shared experiences, rather than just sessions. Welcoming House of Healing back to Upper House Hong Kong for a third time and expanding across all three Houses is a natural next step for us, allowing us to build on that foundation while introducing a broader wellness perspective rooted in Asian wisdom. Each location will have its own point of difference, and we’re really excited to bring this to life across all of our House cities and continue growing our wellness community.”

Upper House Hong Kong

Taking place between 30-31 May, between 09:30 am and 18:00 pm each day, the Upper House Hong Kong’s House of Healing will enable guests to participate in two wellness experiences out of the following choices:

  • A 30-minute Hot Sculpt class by boutique fitness company And Sculpt, which involves working out on an infrared-heated mat.
  • Traditional Chinese Acupuncture by Chain’s Medicare Centre for 15 minutes.
  • A 30-minute tea ceremony and gong sound journey, delivered by wellness and sound practitioner May Nogoy. Her sound experiences feature a rare 55-inch Beyond Gong, made by master gong-maker Martin Bläse, alongside crystal alchemy bowls
  • Mini soul readings by crystal and self-discovery company Stone and Star for 20 minutes.
  • Up!Health Chiropractic Clinic will offer 20-minute posture consultations
  • A 20-minute red light therapy session will be provided using technology by Human Arc, formerly known as 10x Longevity.
  • The companies and practitioners delivering the House of Healing events have had past, or have just begun wellness residencies at Upper House Hong Kong. Some of these experiences are also available as in-room rituals too.

Guests will also have access to full-day group programming, healthy food for lunch and an education session.

There are two ticket choices:

A one-day ticket costs HK$988 (US$126, €116, £97) per person.
A two-day ticket costs HK$1,788 (US$228, €210, £176) per person.

Upper House Chengdu and Upper House Shanghai

Upper House Chengdu’s House of Healing will incorporate the property’s soon-to-be-launched Asian hair and scalp spa.

Upper House Shanghai will host social fitness activations, such as hybrid training sessions with Technogym, personalised reformer and gyrotonic Pilates training.
