Therme Group has unveiled plans to realise its first US wellbeing destination in Dallas, Texas. If approved by the City of Dallas, Therme Dallas will introduce the company’s evolved approach to urban wellness.

Spanning hundreds of thousands of square feet, the modern complex will feature thermal baths, dozens of saunas and wet rooms, thermal and mineral pools, waterslides, relaxation beds, immersive art, diverse dining options and abundant greenery.

Designed as an inclusive space, Therme Dallas will integrate cutting-edge sustainable technologies and biophilic architecture to “create a rejuvenating third space where people of all ages can reconnect with nature, themselves and each other”.

“Therme Group is proud to bring its vision for accessible, world-class wellbeing to the US,” said Robert Hanea, CEO of Therme Group.

“With our expertise in creating Europe’s most-visited wellbeing destinations, we see Dallas as the perfect place to introduce our concept – offering an unparalleled experience while enhancing the city’s economic and social vitality.”

Located along the Trinity River, the site boasts natural beauty, skyline views and proximity to the Dallas Water Commons and the Cedars neighborhood.

If approved by the Dallas City Council, the project is expected to generate over US$1.8 billion (€1.7 billion, £1.4 billion) in tax revenue over 30 years, including US$1.1 billion (€1 billion, £850.9 million) in local tax revenue and US$700 million (€649 million, £541. 5 million) in state tax revenues redirected to the city through the Project Finance Zone.

Therme DC: Washington DC joins the wellbeing movement
Therme Group’s expansion is gaining some serious momentum. The company recently announced a joint venture with Georgetown Company to support the development of 10 US destinations and revealed plans for a US$545m 100m-high ‘oasis in the sky’ in Dubai.

Plans for Therme DC include a 15-acre wellness destination at Poplar Point, a long-undeveloped 110-acre waterfront site. The project will feature thermal baths, saunas, mineral pools, waterslides, immersive art, restaurants and lush greenery, anchoring an area that will also include a 70-acre riverfront park, a trail system and 25 acres of mixed-use development.

“This is a unique opportunity for DC and an economic driver for Ward 8 – creating jobs, attracting visitors and delivering new opportunities for our residents,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Projected economic impacts of Therme DC include:
• US$1.5 billion (€1.4 billion, £1.2 billion) in tax revenue over 25 years.
• 5,000 local construction jobs.
• 720 permanent jobs upon completion.
