Warner Bros. donates props to Smithsonian

Catwoman's costume, a suit worn by Paul Newman and Bette Davis' overcoat were among the artefacts donated
Warner Bros. has donated more than 30 artefacts to Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian National Museum of American History, including props from Batman & Robin and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The artefacts, officially presented at a donation ceremony on 8 March, come from 13 Warner Bros. films spanning from 1943 to 2005.

The props and costumes include a Batman mask and cowl, a suit worn by Paul Newman in The Helen Morgan Story, Christopher Reeves’ outfit from Superman III, puppets from the Corpse Bride and a Wonka Bar and other props from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Director of the museum John Gray said: “At the National Museum of American History we seek to tell an inclusive American story.

“Films are an integral part of this culture and of our daily lives, shaping how we perceive ourselves as Americans.”
