Wheway Lifestyle International (WLI) has won a 10-year contract to operate a brand new 1,200sq m spa in a Spanish resort development.

The first Alanya Spa - a new brand created by husband and wife team Tanya and Allan Wheway - forms part of the Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort and Spa on the Valencian coast, which opens this month.

The spa's facilities include 12 therapy rooms, with hydrotherapy, a dry float, a floatation tank and a Vichy Shower. Treatments on offer, includearomatherapy, reflexology, body wraps, oriental therapies and lifestyle consultations.

There is also a grooming studio offering hairdressing, manicure and pedicure; an indoor hydrotherapy pool with experience showers; a thermal bathing suite with caldarium, sanarium and crystal thermarium; and a rasul.

Other facilities include a gymnasium equipped by Technogym, a mind-body studio, a club lounge, a spa boutique, and an aromatic garden with a therapy area and a whirlpool.

As well as the spa, the resort consists of 184 guest rooms, a 27-hole golf course, outdoor leisure pools, tennis courts, two restaurants, a 4,000sq ft ballroom, a jazz and blues bar, and a casino. A beach club will be completed by the summer for the use of resort guests, spa members and owners of 166 Marriott Vacation Club apartments, planned over the next couple of years.

The spa will cater for resort guests and apartment owners, and will offer a limited membership to local residents and members of the golf club. Some day packages will also be offered.

WLI plans to open its second Alanya Spa in spring 2003 on a beachfront location bewteen Rabat and Caasablanca. Plans for Alanya Spas in Europe are under consideration. Details: +44 (0)1494 758058
