Located in the beating heart of Glasgow, Atera offers a space to pause, reset and invest in wellbeing in a way that feels both purposeful and sustainable
– Kirsty MacCormick, SVP of global operations at BBSpa Group |
International spa, wellness and longevity consultancy, BBSpa, will launch a new bathhouse called Atera in Glasgow, Scotland, in September.
BBSpa is providing turnkey consultancy for the project, including design and management services.
Atera’s name draws inspiration from the latin word ‘terra’, for land or earth, and ‘aqua’ for water. The space will house thermal and treatment experiences and the Mediterranean concept will be evident across the various facilities.
The subterranean day spa is being developed in the centre of the city, steps away from Glasgow Central Station.
In addition to offering treatments, the facility will have a thermal circuit, a gym, movement studios and a café.
A range of membership options will be available, supporting guests’ goals for sustainable lifestyle change and enhancing their long-term health.
Kirsty MacCormick, SVP of global operations at BBSpa Group and head of the company’s UK office, said: “Across Europe, bathhouses have long played an important role in bringing people together through shared rituals of relaxation, restoration and connection. With Atera, we’re creating a destination that honours those traditions while responding to the needs of modern city life.
“Located in the beating heart of Glasgow, Atera offers a space to pause, reset and invest in wellbeing in a way that feels both purposeful and sustainable. This is just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to revealing more about the space and what guests can expect to experience in the coming months.”
