Find out how switching to an online booking system can save you not just money, but hundreds of hours a year
23 May 2017 . BY Dean Fox
 /
Are you still only offering your guests the option to book appointments by phone or in person? If so, you are losing revenue.

Phone booking costs you in hours and dollars

Book4Time’s research team has found that on average it takes approximately 10 minutes for the front desk to book an appointment. Manually booking 5,000 appointments a year, evenly across 365 days, means your offline booking process requires approximately 2 1/2 hours a day – or 833.3 hours a year – in employee labour alone.

This time could be put to better use on other tasks, like guest services and upselling.

Online booking allows larger organisations to better plan staffing schedules and consolidate bookings in a central location.

Online booking makes you money while you sleep

Meanwhile, online booking allows you to literally make money while you sleep, as nearly 10 per cent of bookings are made when the spa is closed. The average online spend is 14 per cent more than in person or on the phone.

It’s what customers want

And the demand for online booking will grow, as Millennials, who already make up a third of the retail market, are poised to comprise 75 per cent of the global workforce by 2025. Research has shown that Millennials don’t make phone calls – they want to book at their own convenience.

Everyone wants to book appointments at their own convenience – and successful businesses make that easy to do.
