Phytomer has introduced a new formula to its skincare range, called Oligopur Youth Cream.

The three-in-one correction formula is designed to treat visible pores, blemishes and wrinkles.

Customers looking to fix blemishes represent a growing market, according to Phytomer. It says the causes behind these marks on the skin include stress, hormonal changes, pollution, the use of comedogenic cosmetics and genetic predisposition.

Phytomer has created a light textured cream for combination to oily skin that it says provides visible results in one month of daily applications, according to its trials.

Ingredients

The cream features a new marine sugar called glycopur, which is a substance created by fermenting a planktonic microorganism found in seawater.

The sugar limits the overproduction of sebum. Too much sebum can lead to the clogging of hair follicles, an increase in inflammation and a proliferation of c. acnes bacteria, which is the main cause of acne. Phytomer says the sugar reduces how much of the skin’s sebum remains on the skin and therefore the possibility of acne and inflammation.

Céline Laperdrix, research and innovation director for skincare, Phytomer, said: “In our new Oligopur Youth Cream, we introduce – for the first time – a new amazing marine sugar: glycopur. This unique active ingredient offers a 360° action, effectively targeting blemishes while respecting the skin’s natural balance. In fact, glycopur marine sugar reduces blemishes by selecting and specifically limiting the pathogenic form of the bacterium c. acnes, the main bacterium responsible for acne. This marine sugar selectively targets the harmful form of these bacteria, helping to reduce its activity without disrupting the entire skin microbiota.”

The company has also extracted red vegetal coral from rare calcified algae to stimulate collagen production and make the skin appear visibly smoother. Phytomer’s studies suggest a 15 per cent increase in collagen density.

The cream also includes anti-wrinkle ingredient adenosine, a microbiota balancing and purifying extract called seapur marine sugar and a formula called Oligomer that strengthens the skin barrier.

The scent combines fresh notes of blackcurrant, pear, violet with Lily of the valley, sandalwood and musk.

Results

Phytomer conducted a satisfaction study among 23 women who applied the product twice daily for a month.

More than 80 per cent of these women saw a reduction in blemishes, their skin was smoother and their pores tightened.

Skin texture improved for the entire group, as did levels of skin hydration, according to the women.

Pricing

The retail price for a 50ml unit of the cream is £17.97 (US$23.88, €20.81) excluding tax.

The 100ml unit for professional spa use costs £24.70 (US$32.82, €28.60) excluding tax.
