Outdoor spa facilities include an infinity spa pool overlooking the Hudson River
The newly opened SoJo Spa Club in New Jersey, US will launch a hotel to add to its urban New York-area spa resort.

The 32-bedroom Hotel SoJo, due to open on 30 June, will be marketed as a contemporary hotel with an Eastern touch.

It will be operated in connection with the SoJo Spa Club – a multi-floor spa complex which opened earlier this year on the banks of the Hudson River with a variety of saunas, pools, soaking baths, and therapy rooms.

The hotel will complete the development of the 240,000sq ft (22,297sq m) riverside retreat, which includes 60,000sq ft (5,574sq m) of wellness space spread over three floors.

At the heart of the resort, designed by Virgona & Virgona Architects, is the 7,000sq ft (650sq m) SoJo spa, which features 17 treatment rooms – including two couple’s rooms, two couple’s suites, nine private treatment rooms and an open area massage room. There is also a foot massage room and manicure and pedicure stations. Treatments are provided by skincare brand ESPA.

Outdoor facilities include hydrotherapy pools, hot tubs and a seasonal rooftop infinity pool, overlooking the Hudson River and the New York City skyline.

Describing the spa’s offering, general manager Atif Youssef said SoJo Spa Club offers a “global experience.”

“We have taken some of the most coveted natural therapies from around the world and made it possible to experience them in one marvellous location,” he said. “You simply won’t find this variety of international influence and combination of amenities anywhere else in the area.”

ESPA also provided consultation services and training for the spa. Gharieni spa tables and equipment – including the Wellmassage 4D – are used in the treatment rooms.
