Wildflowers and bees inspire Yon-Ka’s 2022 limited edition cult product
06 Jun 2022
Sixty-eight years after it was founded, Yon-Ka remains an independent, family-run French cosmetics and spa company.
Founded in 1954, the small craft brand, developed by botany lovers Cécile, Ernest and Charles Mühlethaler, with support from chemists, has now become the phyto-aromatherapy benchmark.
For 2022, the brand has developed an exclusive collector’s edition of its iconic skin toner Lotion Yon-Ka.
Delicately applied to the face as a light mist, the phyto-aromatic spray suffuses the skin with the famous Yon-Ka Quintessence. The formula is a synergistic blend of five beneficial essential oils – lavender, geranium, rosemary, cypress and thyme – that gives the face a blast of energy.
The skin is left feeling refreshed, toned, rebalanced, and most importantly, primed for the daily skincare routine.
Lotion Yon-Ka comes in two formulas – one for normal to oily skin and the other for dry and sensitive skin.
Since 2014, the product has been reinterpreted by female artists. For this year’s limited edition, Yon-Ka decided to showcase the magic of nature and the wilderness.
Sue Miano was selected this year as the artist of choice, a painter who is inspired by watercolour who focuses her work around recreating wildflowers with precision and flair. By using watercolour techniques and a multitude of pastel shades, Miano has created a delicate final design with intricate paintings of wild flora and bees (a nod to the brand’s commitment to protecting bee populations.
Since 2014, Yon-Ka has sponsored the ‘‘Un toit pour les abeilles” (“A roof for our bees”) nonprofit organisation, both in France and abroad.
For each bottle of the limited edition Lotion Yon-Ka purchased, €1 will be donated to “Un toit pour les abeilles”. This contribution will continue to fund flower field planting and the protection of 750,000 bees in hives located in Provence.
