Canadian spa opens forest bathing experience
POSTED 09 Jun 2019 . BY Jane Kitchen
The trail is 0.8 km and leads to seven suggested marked stations or invitations
Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain has opened a forest bathing trail in the Blue Mountains of Ontario, Canada.

The spa is known for their Scandinavian Baths, which are situated on 25 acres of serene natural forest, and also offers massage therapy.

The Scandinave Forest Bathing Trail is certified by the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy (ANFT) with the assistance of Beth Foster, a forest bathing guider from Barrie, Ontario. The Scandinave Trail is on the 2nd ANFT certified Forest Bathing trail in Canada.

Forest Bathing, also known as Shinrin-Yoku, is simply taking a slow walk in the woods while taking in your surroundings through your senses. The practice follows the general principle that it is beneficial to spend time bathing in the atmosphere of the forest for enhancing health, wellness, and happiness.

Officials from Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain said there is a synergy between Forest Bathing and the Scandinavian Baths, with both offering a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

The Scandinave Forest Bathing Trail is located on small section of the spa’s natural property, just outside of the baths activity. The trail is 0.8 km and leads you seven suggested marked stations or invitations. These invitations are clearly marked on the trail and correspond with a Forest Bathing Guide guests receive at reception.

It is suggested that guests wander slowly to each post, taking as long as they wish to experience each invitation. This develops into mindfully moving through the landscape in a way that cultivates a relaxing and rejuvenating experience.
