InterContinental London O2 opens naval-influenced destination spa
POSTED 18 May 2016 . BY Jane Kitchen
The spa's decor takes inspiration from the hotel’s location within the historic Royal Borough of Greenwich and the influences of the East India Trading Company
The newly launched InterContinental London – The O2 hotel, has opened its 1,000sq m (10,764sq ft) spa, which features a bespoke treatment menu from ESPA.

The spa includes a 17m (56ft) indoor swimming pool, a relaxation pool fitted with cannon neck massage jets, sauna, steamroom and ice fountain, as well as eight treatment rooms and a relaxation lounge.

Taking inspiration from the hotel’s location within the historic Royal Borough of Greenwich and the influences of the East India Trading Company in the waters nearby, the decor features exotic textures and luxurious materials such as gold gilt and blue pearl granite. Bespoke printed mosaic tiles and die-cut pendant lighting complement the heavy timbers of the spa, which were designed to reflect the historic naval ships and merchant dock yards of Greenwich.

Treatments include a variety of massages, including Swedish, deep-tissue and hot stone, as well as ESPA’s hero treatments, such as the Back, Face & Scalp Treatment, and can be individually tailored.

“I am delighted to announce that The Spa at the InterContinental London – The O2 is now fully open to visitors and guests,” said Stuart Brand, spa manager.

“With a fantastic choice of treatments and ESPA products available, alongside a delicious food menu devised specifically with our guests in mind, the spa provides an element of escapism from busy London life. Guests can slip away from the hustle and bustle of the hotel into the calm oasis of the spa, returning fresh and revitalised.”
