December launch confirmed for Tschuggen Bergoase
POSTED 24 Nov 2006 . BY Sarah Todd
The Tschuggen Group – which operates four luxury hotels in Switzerland – is to open a new CHF35m (£14.8m, US$28.1m, 21.9m euro) spa facility on 1 December.

The 3,500sq m (37,700sq ft) Botta Bergoase spa will be part of the Tschuggen Grand Hotel in Arosa.

The spa complex will be spread over four floors and linked to the hotel by a glass bridge.

It will include 12 treatment rooms, two swimming pools, indoor and outdoor saunas, a hammam, a meditation room, a fitness centre and a junior spa suite.

The spa will also feature a Kniepp Path – where guests will walk over natural stones through a knee-deep stream of water – and the Arosa Mountain Grotto.

The spa has been designed by Mario Botta, who was also the architect for the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, US, while interiors have been conceived by Carlo Rampazzi.

Spa brands used will include Kanebo, Clarins, Dermalogica and Thalasso.

The group also plans to launch a second spa – the Botta See Oase – in December 2007. The 2,500sq m (27,000sq ft) facility – which will offer 10 treatment rooms – will be connected via an underground passage to the Hotel Eden Roc in Ascona, Switzerland, and add to the hotel’s existing 1,500sq m (16,150sq ft) spa.
